Frost? No more!
Rain? Bring it on!
Leaf clearing and bush pruning? All on the schedule for the weekend.
Fencing, here we come!
The smell of tulips and daffodils will soon fill the air. Planning a trip to our local garden store is in the works, to pick up as many daffodils and tulips as I can get my hands on, or that will fit in my budget. I'm sure you can guess which one will come first! I don't know if it's just me, but the price of everything is extraordinary these days, even when it comes to plants.

In an effort to save money this year, I managed to save all of my canna lili bulbs, as I dug them up and out them into cooler storage under the house. In years past, they were out in the farm building with all of our equipment, but did not winter well in there. These will be going in next weekend, and hoping I don't need to buy any more. An expense I'm tired of incuring.
The haspkup berry & raspberry bushes have wintered perfectly, and are in the begining stages of sprouting. I'm hoping we will have a great harvest from them again this year, as it helps fill the freezer with much anticipated fruit in the winter months. Most importantly, we will need to do is to re-install the bird netting again this year. The one we had on last year, was destroyed due to heavy, wet snow we didn't notice until it all came crashing down. The one thing I absolutely adore around our place, is the blue spruce trees. The sight of them is theraputic in itself. They do however, attract a large number of birds, which doesn't help our garden.

Work has slowly begun, to prep the garden beds for the anticipated fruits and veggies they will have soon. Digging down deep to make sure any weeds or stray roots from other plants that might of started, are taken out, and the soil fluffed and airated! I might even see the occasional worm.

Turns out, it actually started snowing. Now, here it's actually March, middle of March to be exact, and we have snow falling...
So, it has put a stop to most of my outside planning activities, but it gets me a chance to catch up on things inside, such as a recipe for cherry jam in order to make some room for this years fruit harvests. I was in a bit of a rush last year and they all went in the freezer, pits in. Stay tuned to see how this turns out!
Until next time!
